This is a solid hatchet, the splitting end is a little wider than expected (which is good) and the hammer end works as a surface to pound in the splitting end with a large branch or something. It's not super balanced- very top heavy, but it's solid and won't give out on you in the field.

For the past few years I have been carrying a traditional hatchet in my camping kit but I recently realized that I don't do much cutting with my hatchet, I tend to use it to split off kindling from wood that has already been split to size for putting on the fire and for that this works much better than my regular hatchet, it has a fatter heavier head more suited to splitting off kindling. Works well and the plastic case is nice to keep it from scratching up items in your truck.

This is a really nice hatchet. The handle is very sturdy, and it has a good weight to it. It's super sturdy and came with a surprisingly sharp edge. There's also a little rubber slip over for the blade to make it a little safer when stored. Just keep in mind that this is carbon steel, so can and will rust. Take care to keep it dry and out of very humid environments if you want to prevent rust. You can also wipe it down with a light oil occasionally or for storage to prevent rust.

Overall, great deal on a surprisingly nice hatchet!

I got this to practice my axe throwing at a target and it works perfect. I also used it on a few logs to make some kindling and it did the job but I think needs to be sharpened. Overall I think this is a good product and I know I will get a decent amount of use out of it. For the price, this is an excellent value.

Pros: The handle has a nice ergonomic feel. The weight is good. This is a great size, not too big, and easy to wield. I like that this has a nice solid wood handle and no crazy frills.

Cons: it's not super sharp, but this can be remedied. You can see the glue on the handle where the axe is attached to the handle.

Got this hatchet for our camp spot to split small pieces of wood and for when we travel out west. I like the carrying case that covers the edge and has a handle. The hatchet is very sturdy, good grip and the edge was ok. It def got the job done but would encourage anyone to take a file to the edge to make it even better. Overall at the price point this is a good sturdy hatchet

The hatchet came in quickly and with no issues. The camping hatchet is a 15-inch wood axe for splitting and chopping. The hatchet is made out of forged steel blade with nylon and a shock reduction hollow handle. The pieces are inseparable, and there is an over-molded head connection. The axe comes with a protective blade cover that attaches to the wall for easy storage. The hatchet works great and is strong. I would recommend this to anyone that is in need of a nice hatchet for the price.
